Today 311 announced they will be taking over Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for 311 day 2010! Here is the official announcement:

Let it be known…311 Day (Thursday, March 11, 2010) will be in LAS VEGAS!!!That’s right, we’re heading to Vegas for the ultimate 3-11 Day celebration!!!

Las Vegas will provide the non-stop party playground for the 311 faithful. From the pools, to the casinos, to the fan parties, to the ultimate 311 concert event…you will be in for a great adventure!!
311 Day (March 11) is the ultimate 311 concert experience. It’s the premiere event for 311 fans to gather and celebrate their love of 311 and to witness the most exciting 311 show of the year! 311 plays an extended setlist of hits, classics, rarities and covers; backed by a state-of-the-art light and special effects show. (311 Day shows in 2006 and 2008 spanned 5 hours each).

Today 311 announced some good and bad news about 3-11 day 2010.
The good news is that 3-11 day 2010 is a go.
The bad news is that 3-11 day 2010 will not be held in New Orleans.
Here’s the official release:
As you know, we typically hold our 3-11 Day event in the great city of New Orleans.
Unfortunately, there is a massive medical convention in New Orleans from March 9 - 14, 2010. The convention has reserved 30,000 hotel rooms in New Orleans for convention participants - making hotel rooms extremely scarce & expensive for anyone else traveling to New Orleans during that time period. We have been in discussions with the New Orleans Board of Tourism for many weeks trying to work out a solution to this situation - but with no luck. They cannot guarantee us an adequate number of hotel rooms to accommodate the thousands of dedicated 311 fans that travel to 3-11 Day. And what few rooms they are willing to hold for us are overpriced due to the city-wide convention hotel rates. As a result, in the best interest of 311 fans, we have decided to move 3-11 Day 2010 to another city.
The new location will be announced as soon as possible upon full confirmation. All is in the works. We are exactly 6 months from the event. We will update you as soon as possible on city, venue, special hotel packages, official fan parties and more. We appreciate your patience for further details and your understanding of the location change. 3-11 Day 2010 will certainly be one for the ages…get ready!!!
(New Orleans…311 loves you. It’s unfortunate that 3-11 Day 2010 cannot take place in the Big Easy due to the shortage of hotel rooms that week - but the band is looking forward to the Friday, Dec 4 show in New Orleans on the band’s Fall / Winter Tour. Good times to come!)

We all like partying in NOLA, but I’m sure the band will come up with a suitable substitute in light of the situation. My personal hope is for a 3-11 day 2010 in Atlanta.

3-11 Day 2008 Documentary
The Deluxe and Super-Deluxe packages come with an 83-minute documentary film, “The Road to 311 Day 2008,” which follows the band & their fans for the week leading up to the special 311 Day show in New Orleans on March 11, 2008, includes behind the scenes footage, interviews and live performances from 311 Day ‘08.

HAPPY 3-11 DAY 2009!!
311 made today special by announcing info on the album (album title,
album release date, radio single, deluxe edition cd with dvd) and on
the tours (spring tour and summer tour dates, as well as announced
that Ziggy Marley will open on the summer Unity Tour ‘09).
The band also introduced a handful of new merch items and offered
merch specials and various contests for show tickets and autographed
goods.
311 also did 35 radio phone interviews today nationwide, while
stations played rock blocks of 311 in honor of 3-11 Day.
Most important, as a special treat for their fans, 311 will host an
online video chat tonight at Ustream.com. Hosted by Stryker (KROQ dj /
Loveline co-host), 311 will answer fan questions for an hour, live on
video cam for you all to see and hear. You can access the chat at www.ustream.tv/channel/official311

NEW ALBUM RELEASE DATE & RADIO SINGLE:
311’s new album UPLIFTER , produced by Bob Rock, will be released in the US on June 2nd, 2009! (International release dates to be announced).
UPLIFTER is 311’s first album in three years. Song titles soon to come.
The first single from UPLIFTER will be the song “Hey You”. Perhaps you heard a a bit on the band’s recent You Tube video clip with Bob Rock. “Hey You” will be released to national radio in mid April. We can’t wait for you to hear it!
311 UPLIFTER / MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:
There will be two versions of UPLIFTER made available. There will be a CD version, featuring the 11 new songs. And there will be a Deluxe Edition version, which will be the CD plus a special 80 minute DVD documentary titled “The Road to 3-11 Day 2008”, directed by Wayne Price. The DVD includes a behind the scenes look at the band & their fans during the week leading up to 3-11 Day, as well as backstage footage, interviews, fan footage and 8 live performances from the 3-11 Day 2008 concert at the New Orleans Arena! You don’t want to miss this! The Deluxe package will be a limited edition offering, so keep an eye out for pre-sale details soon.

Happy 3-11 Day!
If you’re not in New Orleans to catch the show then make sure you listen to 311, wear your gear, and spread the word about 3-11 day!

According to a blog post from the Going to 3-11 Day 2008 MySpace user, more tickets are being released for 3-11 day.
After making some stage and production adjustments, it has allowed for four more sections to be opened up for ticket sales for the 3-11 Day show in New Orleans!! These sections are 116, 121, 320, and 328. They are side view tickets, some of which may be partially obstructed. The tickets are very close to the stage, so you’re right in the action! You can view these locations by going to the band’s 3-11 Day Ticketmaster page and then clicking the link on the right side of the page called “Seating Chart”.
These tickets will go on sale Friday, February 7 at 3:00PM CST at Ticketmaster.
If you haven’t gotten tickets yet then this is probably the time to do it!

The 311 bulletin board has announced details about the 311 fan party in New Orleans:
311 FAN PARTY
A party for 311 fans, by 311 fans!!To celebrate 3-11 Day and to celebrate fans coming to New Orleans from all over the world for 311’s greatest concert, we have put together the 311 Fan Party once again; on Monday 3/10, the night before the big show!!
WHERE: The Howlin’ Wolf (907 South Peters, downtown New Orleans. 10-15 minute walk from the downtown hotel district and French Quarter/Bourbon Street). http://www.howlin-wolf.com/
WHEN: Doors open at 7pm. The party is from 8pm - 12midnight. (Afterwards you can go home to rest up for the big show the next day, or keep the party going in the French Quarter. Up to you!).
TICKETS: $8 tickets will be on sale only through the 311.com Pre-Sale page. Tickets will go on sale Feb 11 at 3PM CST (4PM EST / 1PM PST). Tickets will be mailed to you in advance. (The ticket cost covers the club space, bartenders, security, sound and lights). We have the place entirely to ourselves!
CAPACITY: 1,000 persons. So it’s a moderate sized space considering 13,000 of us will be going to the 3-11 Day show. But hopefully you’ll be a lucky one to score a ticket and join us for a great party and meet some great people who like to rock to 311 just like you! (And if you don’t get a ticket to the Fan party, fear not, there will be plenty of 311 fans celebrating together throughout the French Quarter).
AGES: This event is 18+ (as per venue policy).
WHAT: The 311 Fan Party is a gathering place for like-minded dedicated 311 fans to meet eachother and rock out together to the music of 311! If you’ve joined us before, you know just what we’re talking about! It’s a great vibe and great time to meet one another and listen to a great mix of 311 tunes to get pumped for the upcoming show! The club will have low cost on drinks (Domestic beers $3, Import beers $4, Well cocktails $4, Call cocktails $5, Premium cocktails $6). And there may be some other specials too as well as possible 311 giveaways!

New for 3-11 Day 2008, The 311 Store has a 311 Day License Plate that will help you let everyone know you’re on your way to 3-11 Day.
The product page says that they will be shipped on 2/5/2008 so that you will have it in time. As of now, it looks like there are 189 in stock.

The band has announced plans for 3-11 day 2008!

VENUE: NEW ORLEANS ARENA
While past shows have been at the UNO Lakefront Arena, this time the show will be at the New Orleans Arena (www.neworleansarena.com), a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 1999. The Arena is within walking distance of 18,000 hotel rooms, the Central Business District, the Louisiana Superdome, the French Quarter (Bourbon Street), and riverfront attractions. So this location will be much more central to the heart and good times of New Orleans.TICKETS: ON-SALE TBA
At this time, a ticket on-sale date has not been determined. The on-sale date should be sometime between early December and mid January. We’ll be updating you along the way. There will be General Admission Floor Tickets, and Reserved Seat Tickets available. This venue also offers some “Club Seats”, which are reserved seats in the lower mezzanine that have access to two private lounges (private bars, restaurant and restrooms). 3-11 Day is a long night of entertainment, so you should make the decision of what is better for you…floor or seats. The arena is walking distance to many hotels.
